Woody LaBounty is the founder of the Western Neighborhoods Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the history of western San Francisco. LaBounty grew up in the Richmond District, lives in the Sunset District, and is recognized as the leading authority on the history of these neighborhoods. He is the author of Carville-by-the Sea: San Francisco's Streetcar Suburb, a visual history of the 1890s beach colony south of Golden Gate Park that used horse cars and cable cars as building stock.
