Sunday Streets came to the Great Highway Sunday, July 7, bringing with it bicyclists, skateboarders, roller skaters, scooter riders and others looking to enjoy the newly paved thoroughfare while it was closed to car traffic.

Sunday’s route followed Golden Gate Park from east to west before hooking south down the Great Highway toward Sloat Boulevard. That part of the Great Highway had been pockmarked with potholes and plagued with jagged pavement for years, but a repaving project that wrapped up a few days before the Sunday Streets event laid down smooth new asphalt.
