Sunset Community Festival celebrates neighborhood life
The Sunset Community Festival, an annual celebration of life in San Francisco’s Sunset District, marks its 18th year Saturday with activities for children, performances, exhibits and local food.
Starting at 11 a.m. and running though 3 p.m, the Sunset Community Festival will fill the courtyard of West Sunset Playground, near the Ortega Branch Library at 39th Avenue and Ortega Street. Neighborhood organizations including Sunset Youth Services, the Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center and the Western Neighborhoods Project will have tables at the festival, along with schools and local businesses including the Ocean Beach Bulletin.
The 18th annual Sunset Community Festival festival features a Hawaiian theme and historical highlights from Ocean Beach’s old amusement park, Playland-at-the-Beach. The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department is also set to provide a climbing wall and skateboard ramp.
