Movies at McCoppin, a new monthlong event, kicks off Friday with a free showing of “The Muppets” in McCoppin Square on Taraval Street.

The event is a collaboration among the People of Parkside — a merchants association previously known as the Taraval-Parkside Merchants Association — and Supervisor Carmen Chu, the Stern Grove Festival Association, the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development, and the Recreation and Park Department.

Movies at McCoppin will show a free movie in the park every Friday of June.

Friday’s movie is scheduled to start “8 p.m.-ish,” according the the People of Parkside website. McCoppin Square is on Taraval Street between 22nd and 24th Avenues, next to the Parkside Branch Library.
