Sunday Streets comes to the Great Highway Sunday, closing the road and bringing people from all over the city to pedal, roll and stroll through Golden Gate Park and along Ocean Beach.

This year a new route connects the weekly car-free area in the park’s east end with Transverse Drive to Middle Drive and Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, then to Lincoln Way and the Great Highway all the way south to Sloat Boulevard.

Sunday Streets runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., but traffic and parking disruptions may extend before or after those hours.

Some neighborhood businesses piggyback on the usually festive atmosphere of Sunday Streets with their own events. Among others, the Sunset Shapers surf shop at 3896 Noriega St. at 46th Avenue plans a sidewalk barbecue, according to a tweet from the shop.
