Ocean Beach has become sufficiently well known as a surfing spot that it will host a major international competition in two weeks, but on Saturday a special group will gather to remember the time when only a few dared brave the cold, treacherous waters.
The seventh annual Kelly’s Cove Reunion starts at 2 p.m. Saturday on the sand at the north end of Ocean Beach near the Cliff House, with tai chi and yoga lessons before a ceremonial fire and memorial at 3 p.m.
The Ocean Beach Bulletin’s Mark Lukach went to the sixth annual reunion in 2010 and found a still-close community of free-thinking pioneers. Read Mark’s article about the 2010 Kelly’s Cove Reunion.
