Community Clean Team to take to Sunset streets Saturday
The Community Clean Team, a volunteer project of the San Francisco Department of Public Works, will be coming to the Outer Sunset on Saturday, Sept. 24 for a variety of neighborhood clean-up projects including tree planting, weed removal and graffiti clean-up.
The annual clean-up project is spearheaded by the DPW, and is supported by a wide network of neighborhood organizations and businesses.
Ground zero for the Community Clean Team will be at AP Giannini Middle School (3151 Ortega Street, between 37th and 39th Avenues), and interested volunteers are encouraged to register for the event there. Teams will then spread out throughout the neighborhood to projects on Noriega Street, Sunset Boulevard, Ocean Beach, Irving Street and Stern Grove.
In addition to the clean-up projects, the event includes a free drop-off opportunity for large trash items, which will be at the West Sunset Playground Parking Lot on Quintara Street between 40th and 41st Avenues. Proof of residency in District 4 is required for this free service.
The trash drop-off will run from 8 a.m. to noon, with the clean-up lasting from 9 a.m. to noon. Lunch will be served to volunteers who participate.
To register in advance for the event as a volunteer, email volunteer@sfdpw.org, or call (415) 641-2600.
