Trouble Coffee has started work on a parklet in front of its Judah Street location, installing a massive trunk of a eucalyptus tree Friday morning.
“It’s all in my head,” Trouble Coffee owner Giulietta Carrelli said of the parklet’s design, but seating and other features will be made from driftwood and logs.
“Lots of plants,” she said, standing on the Judah Street sidewalk outside the tiny coffee shop as workers secured the eucalyptus trunk behind a plywood barrier. “The plants are being done up by Surfrider Foundation.
Trouble’s customers will put their own stamp on the parklet. Carrelli said the names of customers whose donations helped pay for the installation will be stamped on bricks used used in it.
Carrelli said she expects construction to wrap up in about a week. Trouble Coffee, at 4033 Judah St., between 45th and 46th avenues, recently celebrated its fourth anniversary in business.

The eucalyptus trunk is not driftwood but was donated by Green Waste Recycle Yard, the recycling division of The Professional Tree Care Company.
