A recycled-water plant planned for Golden Gate Park is already under environmental review, but the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission wants to hear from people with ideas for alternative sites for the facility.
The proposed Westside Recycled Water Project would pipe partially treated wastewater under the Great Highway from the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant on the south end of Ocean Beach to a new plant near the Murphy Windmill on the west end of Golden Gate Park. The water would be treated further, and then used to irrigate the park and some golf courses.
The SFPUC is asking for input on alternative locations at a meeting Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at 1155 Market St.
