Two men and dog rescued from Lands End cliff
Two men and a dog were rescued from a cliff at Lands End near the Lincoln Park golf course Sunday afternoon. San Francisco firefighters climbed down the steep face of a cliff in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area overlooking the Golden Gate to reach the stranded men and dog, who fell in a closed area of the park.
“We are happy that both of the visitors and the dog are safe,” said GGNRA spokesman George Durgerian. But he told the Ocean Beach Bulletin that the visitors were fined for going into an area that was posted as being closed and unsafe.
At 2:20 p.m. a dog and two visitors went into a closed area called Painted Rock, about a half mile west of Eagle Rock, according to Durgerian. The dog went over a bluff, and the two visitors went after it to try and rescue it, but all three needed help.

Was this dog on a leash? I doubt it. But of course. leash “laws” are optional for dog owners in San Francisco.
I was there with my friend Carol. It was amazing how many police and firemen were there. We saw four engines, maybe two dozen firemen and half a dozen cops, an GGNRA ranger or two. It attracted a big crowd of onlookers. The spot where it happened is breathtakingly beautiful and yesterday afternoon was one of the most gorgeous I’ve ever seen in S.F. … But what I really want to know is: how much were the two guys fined for going off trail?
it is very nice that every one is doing well. Thanks to the team assisting in the rescue. I imagen the penalty is worth it from the owners perspective, they wanted to save their friend (dog) that place them in this situation.
