Ocean Beach fans react to Giants’ National League victory

When the San Francisco Giants secured their spot in the 2010 World Series by defeating the Phillies Saturday night in Philadelphia, the reaction from fans back home — including those in the city’s western neighborhoods — was immediate and ecstatic. In the Sunset District, cheers, firecrackers and barking dogs could be heard in the streets.

On Twitter, the reaction from fans near Ocean Beach looked like this:

@mattfershuure: WORLD SERIES! LET’S GO GIANTS!

@SFSUBookstore: Yeaahhhhhh!!!!!! Giants baby!!!!!!! Yeahhhhh!!!!

@ruggedelegance: World Series 2010, here we come! Way to go San Francisco Giants!! We love you.

@kivalaniland: YES!!! Partying and fireworks in the street… I know what that means! (@ Bright N Clean Laundry Center) http://4sq.com/aUuNZy

@camiizzzle: VICTORY. Just ran around the streets, with instruments, friends, and a camera! In the rain!

@che: Having a celebratory lychee boba & bringing an extra two home to my Dodger fan roommates because I’m feeling extra nice. … Go SFGiants!

@CPbike: Looks like I’m keeping the beard for at least another week. #SFGiants http://yfrog.com/mo9txoj

And although these contributions to YouTube weren’t from the Ocean Beach area, the words of reliever Brian Wilson and the prayer for the Giants were too good not to share.
