Win’s Restaurant gets winning review
Win’s Restaurant on Taraval Street isn’t the kind of place that has a star chef, a trendy menu or a high-energy marketing plan. But Win’s has been around the Outer Sunset for years, providing takeout and sit-down service to construction workers on lunch break, families taking a night off from their home kitchens, and others from the surrounding neighborhood.
SF Weekly’s Foodie blog wrote about Win’s recently, and came up with favorable reviews of the roast pork, barbecued duck and wontons at Win’s.
Win’s Restaurant seems as if it’s been camouflaged to fade into the fog. Ask your friends and your friends’ friends about their favorite places for barbecued meats and noodles, though, and its name always filters back. …
The wontons I ordered were good, stuffed with shrimp, with a little crunch to them and wrinkled skins that trailed like silk across the tongue. The chicken-pork broth they floated in was clear and deep.
Win’s Restaurant is at 3040 Taraval St., between 40th and 41st avenues.
